Our courses are well-known for their high ratio of tutors to participants. We take great pride in this key aspect of our training structure: there are never more than 10 members in a Diploma training group, and there are always at least two tutors present throughout each and every module.

The Diploma in Supervision training programme is run over two weekend modules and four one-day modules, which all take place at Thriplow Hall, near Cambridge.

This course is designed to encourage informed and mature practice through the monthly training sessions and regular supervision of supervision in a small tutor-led group. Self- and peer-assessment and individual goal setting, alongside tutor guidance, are key aspects of the training.

Alongside those who have completed our Certificate in Supervision, we also welcome applications from practitioners with at least three years' post-qualifying experience, who have formal experience of being trained in supervision (assessed or otherwise) and who are keen to develop their supervisory knowledge and skills to a high standard.

Throughout its evolution our integrative training programme has thrived on working with a diversity of practitioners while at the same time maintaining a natural focus on Adlerian concepts, so some prior knowledge or personal experience of the Adlerian approach is desirable, but not essential. Previous participants have included dramatherapists, psychodynamic, person-centred and CBT counsellors, and medical practitioners.

Guest presenters on our Diploma course have included Nick Totton, Peter Jenkins, Robin Shohet, Francesca Inskipp and Brigid Proctor.

For the 2017-18 course, the two guest presenters are Keith Silvester (a former Director of Training at the Psychosynthesis Trust) who will lead a workshop on gender and sexual diversity issues in supervision; and Steve Page (author of The Counsellor and the Shadow and Supervising the Counsellor and Psychotherapist: A Cyclical Model with Val Wosket) on working with authority and the shadow in supervision.
